Complexity:  Easy


  • 1 lb minced meat (ground beef)
  • 4 – 5 heaping tbsp Del Mano basil pesto
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp pepper sauce (optional)
  • Cheese slices
  • 2 – 3 tbsp olive oil


  1. Place meat in a large bowl.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients except the cheese and oil. Mix just until all the ingredients are incorporated.
  3. Form into 4 large patties or 8 small ones. Place on a large platter and let marinate in refrigerator for at least half hour. Remove when ready to cook.
  4. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Heat oil over medium high heat in a large oven friendly saucepan.
  5. Place patties in oil and let brown for approximately 2 -3 minutes on each side.
  6. Place in preheated oven to finish cooking to preferred doneness. When the burgers are almost done, place cheese on top and put back in oven for cheese to melt. The burgers should not remain in the oven longer than 10 – 12 minutes.
  7. Place on toasted burger buns with your favorite burger toppings or serve with a green salad for a healthier option. Enjoy.
