HAM, AVOCADO AND MUSHROOM MELTS

Complexity: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 12 slices ham
  • 1½ cups sliced button mushrooms
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 12 slices cheddar cheese
  • Mayonnaise
  • Mustard
  • 4 hamburger buns or favourite bread rolls split in half
  • 1/4 small avocado, peeled and cut in chunks
  • Few drops of pepper sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

  2. Heat oil in frying pan. Add the mushrooms and onions. Cook until tender. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, pepper sauce or cayenne pepper.

  3. Spread mayonnaise on bottom half of buns. Top each half with 3 slices of ham followed by mushroom mixture and then cheese. Add a little mustard and top with the remaining half of bread.

  4. Place in oven for approximately 7 – 10 minutes or until the cheese starts to melt. Remove from the oven.

  5. Remove the top bread half of the sandwich and place the avocado on top of the cheese. Replace the top of the bread, slice in half and serve.
