  • 6 pieces mauby bark
  • 1 small piece dried orange peel
  • 1 piece cinnamon stick
  • 1 tbsp aniseed essence
  • ½ tsp kola essence (optional)
  • Juice of ½ lime
  • Sugar
  • Water


  1. In a saucepan put mauby bark, orange peel and cinnamon stick. Cover with water and let it come to a boil. Leave overnight.

  2. Next day strain in a large bottle and refrigerate until ready to use. This is like a concentrate and you can do this a second time with the same ingredients for more of this mauby concentrate.

  3. In a jug (2L) put approximately 1 cup mauby concentrate. Fill with water about 2/3 add enough sugar to sweeten, essence and lime juice.

  4. Taste and add more sugar or essence if required for desired result.
