FOOD 'FUH' SO!

Anticipation of great food, fabulous flavors and creative competition filled the fresh sea air of the Pigeon Point Heritage Park on Sunday 24th June.

Errol Fabien and Nikki Crosby kept festival patrons highly entertained and in the loop as they co-ordinated happenings on two stages.

The headline acts of the festival were three culinary competitions held on the main stage. The Schools Competition was first where a team of 4 students from 4 respective schools made their own version of coo – coo.

This was followed by the Cooks Competition where a different mystery ingredient was provided to each team of two to incorporate into their menu.

The Iron Man or in this case Woman rounded off the competition where a mystery bag of ingredients was provided to the contestants who then had to create an appetiser and main dish from the bag.

The winners were:

Iron Chef Competition – Carla Ann Williams – Main Dish -Chunky Mahi and Chicken Breast sautéed in Creamy Alfredo Sauce served on a bed of  Crabmeat and Cassava Fettucine.

Cooks Competion – Ysanne Williams – Chance – Main Dish - Ground Provision Cakes with Breaded Coconut Chicken, Sauteed Vegetables and Fresh Salad

Schools Competiton – Bishops High School won with their Mexican Style Coo Coo.

While the competitors were cooking their hearts out, eager patrons made the rounds visiting the various booths, dining on the tasty offerings of both local and international cuisine on sale from the festival participants

For those who wanted some true sweet han Tobago food, there was no shortage. Ms Sylvia had set up early with her Stewed Oxtail and Pigtail, plus at other booths Curry Crab, Stewed Pork, Curry Goat and so much more.

There was no shortage of live entertainment throughout the day which included a pan shootout, biting extempo from Lady Africa and Black Sage, and classic performances from Explainer, Princess Adanna, Baron, Black Stalin, Mighty Shadow and a scintillating closing performance from Superblue.

A great way to spend the day in Tobago.
