Imagine taking a world food tour where you get to sample dishes from over 35 countries, well this was the experience at the 3rd International Food Festival hosted by the Consular Corps of Trinidad and Tobago at the festive Hilton Ballroom.

The ballroom was alight with the wonderful aromas of 37 dishes, each representing the membership of the sovereign countries. Under the patronage of the Honorable Prime Minister, Kamla Persad Bissesar, this annual event was held to raise funds that benefit several charities, including The Children’s Life Fund, National Centre for Persons with Disabilities, Community Chest and the TTSPCA.

Wide arrays of tasty indulgences, prepared and coordinated by the Executive Chefs of Hilton Trinidad, were waiting all in attendance. Many could not get enough of the Roasted Suckling pig from the Republic of Philippines and the mouth-watering Pepperpot from Guyana.

The traditional dishes of Hummus and Babaganoush were represented by Lebanon and one of the most interesting dishes was certainly the Chimloe from Belize, a chicken and pork stew that packed a spicy punch, while perfectly pairing the texture and flavour of the chicken and ground pork.

For the sweet tooth, there was an irresistible display of desserts, including the Sachertorte from Austria and Spoon Cookies from Finland and for the ice cream lovers Haagen Daaz was present with a range of flavours.

Drinks flowed as there were many to sample including cocktails from Angostura, wines from HADCO and beers from Blue Moon and Heineken.

Another successful event by the Consular Corps which we are certain left guests deliciously satisfied and charities well rewarded.
