- 3 cups powdered milk
- ¾ cup flour
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 oz butter or margarine
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups water
- 1 knob ginger, peeled and sliced
- 3 – 4 cardamom seeds
- Oil for frying
Place sugar, water, ginger and cardamom seeds in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
Strain the syrup and return to pan. Simmer over a low heat until ready for use.
Place the powdered milk, flour, ginger and baking powder in a bowl and stir.
Add the margarine and cut into the flour.
Add the milk and mix to form a firm dough. Shape dough into 1-inch balls.
Heat oil over medium high heat (300F – 325F). Fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. 7. Add balls to the warm syrup and let soak for a few minutes. Remove to a wire rack.
